ONYX PURIFEX 2000

DESCRIPTION

PURIFEX 2000 is used as a Sulphur free oxygen scavenger used in calcium and zinc base brines and sea water and completion fluids.

PURIFEX 2000 is a fast-acting liquid accepted by HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) and effective at low temperatures.

APPLICATION

PURIFEX 2000 effectively scavenges oxygen from water-based drilling and completion fluids resulting in reduced corrosion rates. ONYX inhibits corrosion caused by the presence of dissolved oxygen in completion and workover brines.

TREATMENT

PURIFEX 2000 should be injected full strength into mud pump suction. This technique avoids depletion of the scavenger due to mixing and handling. The concentration of 1-1.5 lbm/bbl or 2.5 lit/m3 should be maintained at the flow line. If the concentration of dissolved oxygen is high this level should be increased proportionately 5 times of Dissolved oxygen concentration.

PURIFEX 2000 required to maintain this level will be dependent upon the oxygen level and circulating rate. Where filtrate  calcium levels are above 40 mg/lit maintenance of 0.5 ppb PURIFEX 2000 is recommended.

International regulatory agencies classify PURIFEX 2000 as a noncorrosive substance for transportation.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Utilize normal precautions for employee protection when handling chemical products. Use of appropriate respirator, gloves,  goggles and apron is recommended for employees comfort and protection. However the product might be slightly irritating to skin and eyes. In case of eye and prolonged skin contact, rinse with plenty of water and apply eye wash or skin cream after flushing. Shelf life of this product, once opened will react with air and reduce its activity level. Keep lid, closed at all times. Suggested shelf  life is 1-1.5 years in sealed/ closed condition for maximum activity.
